Huntingdon V Wisbech (Peterborough Premier)
Huntingdon entered the 2005/2006 season with optimistic hopes about their potential this year. They started off the campaign with a home tie against Wisbech, after their first scheduled game was postponed.
Hawks came out on fire, destroying their opposition 27-12 in the first quarter, in which Matt Parsons was particularly impressive, scoring 13 personal points! Hawks however cooled off during the second scoring only 5 field goals and allowing Wisbech right back in the game, making the halftime score 41-36 to Hawks.
As the score continued to be tight in the 3rd quarter, Hawks were able to pull away towards the end of the period, thanks to 8 straight points from Rich Warham to see the quarter out with Hawks leading at 61-50. A dreadful 4th quarter from Hawks, in which they only made 3 field goals, meant the game became much closer than it should’ve been, with Hawks finally able to hang on for a 72-71 victory.
Matt Parsons top scored for Hawks with 25. Jon Hipple supported him with 12 points, whilst 10 points each from Rich Warham and Chris Banks helped the cause.
