Huntingdon V Roade (Peterborough Premier)
Having opened the season with 2 impressive victories, Huntingdon faced an easy looking home tie with Roade, to go to 3-0 for the season.
Although it appeared that Hawks might have underestimated their opponents in the first quarter as both teams appeared even and Hawks edged the quarter 16-14. They extended their lead further in the second quarter to take a 46-37 half time lead, with everyone getting involved.
Some good luck from the perimeter allowed Roade to close the gap in the 3rd quarter, making Hawks’ lead at the quarter only 6 points. The game stayed close throughout the 4th quarter, with the scores tied at 75 each with one minute left, when Jon Hipple made a deep 3 to make it a 3 point game. Hawks were then able to see out the final minute to get a hard earned 82-78 victory.
Jon Hipple led all scorers with 29 points. Chris Banks with 18 and Steve Claringbould with 12 were the other Hawks in double figures.
