South Lincs V Huntingdon (peterborough Premier)

Hawks opened up 2006 with a hard fought victory on the road at South Lincs.

Both teams opened up evenly in the first quarter with Hawks eventually edging out to a 19-12 lead.  The second quarter continued to be a tight affair with the score at 32-28 with 2 minutes remaining in the half.  However Ryan Mills then scored 7 points in the final minute and a half, including a buzzer beating 3 at the end, giving Huntingdon a flattering 44-28 halftime lead.

During the 3rd quarter Hawks were able to maintain this lead, as both sides exchanged baskets.  However the point where South Lincs lost the game was probably in the final minute of that quarter when their influential big man Frazer Wallis was ejected for punching Ryan Mills in the back of the head.  From that point the game was over, and Hawks simply played out the 4th quarter to earn themselves an 85-67 win.

Steven Claringbould continued his good form with 29 points to lead all scorers.  Jon Hipple was the only other Hawk in double figures with 16.
