Roade Vs Huntingdon (Peterborough Premier)
The Hawks extended their winning run to 4 games after a tough victory away at Roade 63 – 74.
The Hawks came out running their offense with a great deal of success but lack of intensity on the defensive end kept the game close with the first quarter ending 16 -14 to the Hawks. The second quarter was much the same with both teams trading baskets and by the end of the half the Hawks were up by 3 points.
The third quarter saw Roade coming out strong and taking control of the offensive boards allowing them to get back into the game. The Hawks seemed to struggle to score easy baskets with the exception of Steve Claringbould who hit 4 three pointers and ending the quarter with 16 points giving the team a 5 point lead.
The fourth quarter was again more of the same with neither team able to make a break. It was only with 3 minutes remaining on the clock when the Hawks defence came alive and pressured the Roade team to make several turnovers. This was helped further with Michael Barclay taking advantage of every opportunity and scoring 10 of his 15 points in those last 3 minutes and securing the victory.
Steve Claringbould led all scorers with 30 points, Michael Barclay had 15 points and Matthew Parsons had 9.
