Huntingdon Vs Kings Lynn (Peterborough Premier)
Hawks continue their winning ways and record 5 consecutive wins and continue their undefeated run in 2006. They easily beat a depleted Kings Lynn side 112 – 54.
The game looked as if it wasn’t going to happen when Kings Lynn only had 4 players an hour before tip-off but they managed to arrive at the Hawks with 5 players. This is the break that the Hawks had been looking for all season and unlike previous games they came out with their ‘Game Faces’ and dominated at both ends of the floor. The Hawks ran their offence with great results and for a refreshing change the defence showed the intensity that it had missed for most of the season, The first quarter ended 24 – 12.
The writing was on the wall from then on and even though Kings Lynn tried to compete it was always going to be a struggle with no bench to fall back onto. With the Hawks controlling both ends of the court it allowed the bench to get some extended game time and for the first time this season all 10 players got on the scoreboard. Dave Hayes helped the Hawks in only his second game back since his knee operation he scored 11 of his 15 points in the second quarter. The score at halftime was 51 – 24.
The third quarter continued in the same pace as the first two and by now the Hawks offence was dominating and most of their points were made in the paint. The quarter ended 84 – 35. The fourth quarter was more of the same and the game finishing 112 -54.
Chris Banks led all scorers with 18, Steve Claringbould 16, Dave Hayes 15, Matt Parsons 14, and Richard Warham 12.
